Responsive Design through Bootstrap and Shortcodes

The Stellar WordPress Template uses Bootstrap 4.0 for consistent responsive design. We have included some WordPress shortcodes to help you easily populate content with multiple columns and collapsible sections. This will ensure that your users will be able to view all of the site’s content regardless of their screen’s size.

Accessibility through WCAG 2.0

Every website should be  accessible for all users. This base theme is designed and coded to be Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) compliant. We have made modifications to the libraries we make use of on this site in order to pass the automated tests provided by the Wave Web Accessibility Tool, AxeCoconut Accessibility Engine and NVDA Screen Reader. We have added skip navigation links, title attributes, WAI ARIA tags  and tested the site for keyboard only navigation.

Many text color and background combinations look great but can be hard to read for some users so your brand colors or print designs may not be accessible. Text over image backgrounds may have the right amount of contrast, but will not pass the automated tools. Your content needs to follow WCAG 2.0 as well – it’s not enough to just start with a quality template – you need to add content mindfully and test continually in order to maintain accessibility.
